The energy regulator has officially approved the new regime of water charges - nine weeks after they kicked in.
The Commission for Energy Regulation has approved the charges of 160 euro a year for homes with one adult, and 260 euro a year for all others.
However the government's faced calls today to delay the first water bills until after a major EU test.
Fianna Fáil's Sean Fleming says the public can't be expected to pay bills until that test happens:
