Irish fans for Euro 2016 are being advised to allow plenty of time to get through security at airports

Thousands of Irish fans will make their way to France this weekend ahead of Ireland's first match on Monday.

Anyone traveling through the country's airports is being advised to give yourself plenty of time to get through security.

Paul O'Kane of the DAA has this advice:

Meanwhile, for a second night, violence involving England supporters has overshadowed the Euros in France.

The summer tournament got underway last night and saw the hosts beat Romania. Footage shows bottles and objects being thrown at police in Marseille last night.

Authorities in France had requested the assistance of a number of international police forces and British officers say they're happy with their security plan ahead of England's match with Russia tonight.
