EU Leaders are to meet today to discuss the crisis in Ukraine.

In particular they will discuss the situation in Crimea which is now under control of pro Russian forces.

Overnight the EU moved to freeze the assets of 18 Ukrainians accused of embezzlement, including ousted president Viktor Yanukovych.

The freeze targets people identified as responsible for misappropriating Ukrainian state funds.

Diplomatic efforts to find a solution to crisis have reached a stalemate in Paris but leaders have promised to continue talking.
