A former soldier has been found guilty of murdering a man outside a chipper near The Five Lamps on the North Strand Road in Dublin in August 2014.
Donal Colgan of Killarney Court, Killarney Street in Dublin 1 admitted killing David Sheridan but claimed he totally lost control after being provoked.
The 66-year-old’s trial heard he was assaulted outside the fast food restaurant before returning to the scene with a knife.
The jury returned with its unanimous verdict after deliberating for almost seven hours.
He’ll soon be handed the mandatory life sentence for murder after the judge has heard a Victim Impact Statement on behalf of Mr. Sheridan’s son.
