Facebook and Sky are opposing the introduction of laws to clamp down on online abuse and bullying - according to the Irish Examiner.
The newspaper reports that Facebook wants to adopt its own anti-bullying hub, while Sky says internet regulation is ineffective, and that its customers prefer to be responsible for their children.
However the ISPCC has been vocal in its criticism of the lack of regulation, and its calling for legislation specifically to clamp down on cyberbullying.
Last week the Communications Minister said it would be hard for the government to take measures without the support of the industry.
