The Irish Coastguard has confirmed five people have died after a car entered the water in Buncrana, County Donegal.

Gardai say a car entered the water at Lough Swilly from a slipway beside the town pier before 8pm tonight.

It's understood a family were travelling in the car and an infant was recovered from the water alive.
