The FBI will investigate the case of a female South Carolina student being dragged by an officer across a classroom.

The Justice Department says it's opened a federal civil rights inquiry into yesterday's confrontation.

The high school pupil was being disruptive when she was tipped backwards out of her chair on to the floor.

No one was hurt in the incident, which was filmed by other students on their mobile phones.
