The Minister for Justice, Alan Shatter, will face a motion of no confidence in the Dáil next week.
Fianna Fail is to table the motion, declaring that Minister Shatter is no longer fit to hold his role following the resignation of Martin Callinan and the handling of the Garda tapes affair.
But a senior Labour minister has today insisted she, and her party, are ready to stand firmly behind the minister.
