Two people have been arrested after Gardaí seized a firearm in Co. Dublin.

As part of an on-going Garda operation targeting organised crime in the Louth area, Gardaí stopped a car on the M1 at Lusk at 8.30pm yesterday evening.

While searching the car, Gardaí recovered a 3.65 calibre handgun.

The occupants of the car - a man in his 50s and a woman in her 30s - were arrested.

They are being detained at Drogheda Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
