At least nine killed in attack in Munich shopping centre

A spokesman for Munich police says the number of people killed in a shooting in the city has risen to nine.

They are confirming whether one of the attackers is among the dead.

At least three armed suspects are still thought to be at large after the attack in and around the Olympia-ein kaufs zentrum mall.

An unknown number of people have been injured.

Police say they're still trying to secure the building and workers are understood to be inside their stores after hiding when they first heard the gunshots.

All public transport routes are being closed down and Munich Police say they are treating it as "suspected terrorism".

The Department of Foreign Affairs say they have no reports of any Irish citizens being caught up in the incident.

A spokesperson said they are closely monitoring the situation and are in contact with the Irish Embassy in Berlin.

Maximilian Bielefeld is in Munich and was waiting for a train with his girlfriend when the shootings happened.

The US president Barack Obama has been speaking about the shooting in Munich.

He says they are still trying to establish the full details:
