Road users are being urged to take extra care this morning with five weather warnings in place across the country.
Met Éireann issued a status 'orange' snow-ice warning and a wind alert last night - along with three 'yellow' warnings.
Up to 8 centimetres of snow is likely across Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Clare, Kerry and Limerick.
Most will be on high ground in Connacht and west Ulster.
