Irish Water says it's saved 3 billion litres of water over the past six months by fixing leaks in household pipe.
The utility says it discovered over 50-thousand leaks across the country through its First Fix Free Scheme - which were losing 18 million litres of water a day.
Irish Water has written to 35-thousand households making them aware of potential leaks - and it expects that number to double by the time the metering programme is finished.
