Forecasters are warning of the possibility of flooding over the next 24 hours.
A status yellow rainfall warning is in place for Connacht, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.
Up to 80 millimeters of rain is expected to fall before the warning ends at six o'clock tomorrow morning.
While the warning doesn't include County Laois, there is expected to be rainfall at the Electric Picnic site in Stradbally.
Rain through much of the west and north of the country today, persistent and heavy at times. It will be drier in the east and south with just a few outbreaks of rain. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees and it will be breezy. pic.twitter.com/jW5hNmJlOT

The forecast is not music to the ears of the thousands of fans who are headed for Stradbally today to pitch their tents for Electric Picnic.
The festival is now in its 16th year, with over 57-thousand due to attend over the weekend.
People are being advised to leave early and to follow the signposts near the site, instead of online maps.
