People are being warned not to eat apricot kernels as they can result in cyanide poisoning.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland says eating raw, unprocessed apricot kernels - sweet or bitter - should be avoided - along with the powdered form.
If people are going to eat them they should not exceed more than 1-2 kernels a day.
Children should avoid them altogether.
Currently there are no legal restrictions on the sale of these products however this is under review by the European Commission
Food businesses selling them are being advised to label them appropriately;
