Garda forensic and underwater teams are due to carry out searches in Grand Canal today in Co. Kildare - following the discovery of a body in the water.
The remains were discovered in a container at Ardclough yesterday at around 3:30pm - however the gender and age group of the deceased has yet to be established.
The deputy state pathologist Dr. Michael Curtis is due to carry out an examination at the scene later.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses following the grim discovery.
