Anglo Irish Bank's former Chief Financial Officer Matt Moran is expected to give evidence today at the trial of three of the bank's former executives.

Pat Whelan, Willie McAteer and Sean FitzPatrick deny providing unlawful financial assistance to the Maple Ten and the family of former billionaire Sean Quinn to buy Anglo shares in July 2008.

The jury's heard evidence that in his role as Anglo's Chief Financial Officer, Matt Moran reported to one of the accused Willie McAteer, the Finance Director at the bank.

The former CFO is due to give evidence today.

However first in the witness box will be Declan Quilligan - a member of the board and the former Chief Executive of Anglo's UK business.

He began his evidence yesterday evening after non-executive board member Michael Jacob who told the court he could not recall a phone conversation with the bank's Chairman Sean FitzPatrick on July 14th 2008 informing him that ten high net worth Anglo clients - now known as the Maple ten - were buying a stake in the bank. He says his recollection was that he was told the transaction was completed.

The jury's heard the Maple Ten deal was to unwind some of the 29% stake in Anglo built up through Contracts for Difference by billionaire Sean Quinn who Mr Jacob described as a 'loose cannon' who'd invested for the 'purpose of a financial gamble'.
