Four men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Northern Ireland.

It's after a man was assaulted and struck by a car in Armoy in Co. Antrim.

The 48-year-old victim was attacked outside a pub on the main street in the village shortly after 1 o'clock this morning.

The PSNI say a car was then deliberately driven on to the footpath hitting the already injured man.

The police say a number of bystanders were also assaulted by the four suspects before they fled the area in the car.

It was found abandoned later in Ballymoney and the suspects were arrested a shortly afterward hiding in nearby gardens.

The victim of the attack suffered serious injuries and the PSNI are appealing for witnesses.
