Frank Kelly has been remembered as loving, courageous and committed at his funeral.

President Higgins, Father Ted creator Graham Linehan and broadcaster Gay Byrne are among the hundreds of mourners to gather at the Church of the Guardian Angels in Blackrock.

Personal mementoes brought to the altar included 17 flowers for each of his grandchildren, a Picture of the Forty Foot and the Irish Times Crossword, which he did every day.

Chief Celebrant Fr Bill Fortune said Frank Kelly had a particular type of courage;

He is survived by his wife Bairbre, seven children, 17 grandchildren, brothers and sister and wide circle of friends.
