Game of Thrones was the big winner at the Emmys, beating off competition from Mad Men and Downton Abbey.

It won a record 12 awards, including best drama series, and prizes also for director David Nutter, and two of the show's writers.

Peter Dinklage won oustanding supporting actor for his role as Tyrion Lannister.

He seemed surprised at the ceremony shown on Fox TV.
