Gardai in Dublin are renewing their appeal for witnesses after a car exploded in the city centre last night.

The incident happened on Long Lane in Dublin 8 at around 11pm.

In particular the Gardai would like to speak to a taxi driver who they believe picked up a man who was injured and bleeding at around that time at the New Street - Clanbrassil Street junction heading towards St Patrick's Catherdal.

The fare was picked up outside a take-away or public house.

Gardai at Kevin Street are appealing to any taxi drivers who may have been approached by a man matching this description to contact them.
