Gardaí in Co. Kerry are examining CCTV footage and awaiting the results of forensics tests in their investigation into an alleged rape at the Bons Secour Hospital in Tralee.

A 61-year-old woman has alleged she was raped by a doctor following a scan at the hospital earlier this month.

The doctor was employed on a temporary basis.

Kerry's Chief Superintendent Con Cadogan could not confirm reports that the doctor has since left the country.

Speaking to Radio Kerry, he said the scene has been examined by forensic experts and is appealing for anyone with information to contact them:
