The President of the AGSI has launched a stinging attack on the Garda Commissioner, saying sheÂ’'s treating officers with disdain.

It'Â’s the first time for Noirin OÂ’Sullivan to attend the annual conference of middle-ranking Gardai in her capacity as Garda Commissioner.

Last year, Noirin OÂ’Sullivan attended the AGSI conference in her capacity as interim Commissioner, just weeks after the resignation of her predecessor in contentious circumstances.

A year on, and arguably one which has been more positive for the force, Commissioner OÂ’Sullivan had to endure a withering attack by AGSI President Tim Galvin who says the force is being stripped of resources and the administration burden has become critical. 

Responding to the criticism, Commissioner O'Â’Sullivan said she looked forward to continuing engagement with the organisation.

The Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald will address the conference tomorrow, where she'Â’s expected to get a warmer welcome.
