Investigations are continuing into a shooting which claimed the life of a garda and a second man in Co Louth.
It happened at a house in Omeath shortly after half past six yesterday evening.
Garda Tony Golden was responding to a domestic disturbance in Mullach Álainn, Omeath - when he - and a woman who lived at the house were shot.
Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene - while the woman was taken to hospital where she remains in a serious condition.
24-year-old Adrian Crevan Mackin - from Co Down - also died from a gun shot wound. And Gardaí are treating the incident as a murder suicide.
He was on bail - having been charged with membership of a dissident group in January.
Fr Joe Kennedy is Chaplin to An Garda Siochana - he says members of the force will rally to support Garda Golden's wife, three young children and his extended family:
The shooting comes less than three years after the murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe from the same Division just a short distance away in Lordship.
Locals are remembering Garda Tony Golden as a dedicated officer and family man - who is survived by his wife and three young children.
