Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to three separate crashes over the past two days.

A woman in her 70s is in a critical condition at Dublin's Beaumont hospital after being knocked down by a truck in Birr, in Co Offaly.

She was hit by a rigid lorry as she crossed the main Birr to Tullamore Road close to Loughnane's Topaz Garage shortly after 5pm.

The injured woman was taken to Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

Gardaí at Birr are appealing for witnesses.

Meanwhile a man in his 50's has died following an accident on a County Wexford Beach.

It's believed the man was on quad bike at Ballinesker Beach in Curracloe when he was hurt yesterday.

The Rescue 117 helicopter from Waterford and volunteers from the Curracloe Coast Guard Unit attended the incident, however the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 10 o'clock last night.

His body was removed to University Hospital Waterford where a post mortem will be carried out.

Gardaí are treating his death as a tragic accident.

In a third separate incident Gardai are looking for witnesses to a collision in Dublin on Monday evening, in which an elderly man died.

The 75 year old was hit by a car on the Greendale Road in Kilbarrack and taken to Beaumont Hospital, where he passed away the next day.

He's been named as Anthony Burke from Briarfield Grove in Kilbarrack.

Gardai say the scene of the collision has been technically examined and the driver of the car has been interviewed.

Anyone who was in the area on Monday is being asked to contact investigating officers at Raheny station.
