Gardai were called last night after a group of anti water charges protestors stormed a meeting of Cork City Council.
It followed an attempt by Anti Austerity Alliance Councillor Mick Barry to get a motion on the jailing of 5 water campaigners in Dublin discussed at the start of the meeting.
Councillors agreed to put the motion on the agenda - but around a dozen protestors pushed into the chamber and began to chant slogans.
They were cheered on by up to 70 supporters in the public gallery.
The council meeting was abandoned and the gardai were called.
