Gardai have launched an investigation into an armed robbery in Co. Offaly.
It happened at a post office in Clara at around 9:30am this morning.
Two men wearing balaclavas entered the post office and threatened staff with what's believed to be a firearm and a knife.
They left the scene with a sum of cash in a Silver Toyota Avensis (07 D registered).
It was later found burnt out on the Kilbeggan road a short time later.
It’s understood they left from here in what is described as a dark hatchback car.
No shots were fired and no one was physically injured during the incident.
No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
