Gardaí are investigating two separate assaults which happened overnight in Cork City.
The first happened at around 9:15 pm last night on Patrick Street.
A man in his 40s was critically injured after being seriously assaulted by another man.
He was brought to Mercy University Hospital for treatment.
In a separate incident, which happened at around 12:15 am, a 19-year-old was assaulted on Grand Parade.
He was taken to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries.
A 20 year old man has been arrested in relation that assault and investigations are also ongoing.
