Gardai are carrying out a series of searches in Carna in Co Galway as part of a 30 year old missing persons investigation.
33 year old Barbara Walsh was last seen at her home in Carna on the 29th June 1985.
Todays searches were instigated after a full case review was carried out earlier this year.
Arising out of that review a Senior Officer was appointed to the Barbara Walsh investigation and an incident room was set up.
The 33 year old was reported missing on June 29th. Barbara Walsh, who was married with a young family, had been last seen at her home in Carna at 4 am on 22nd June, one week earlier.
Today's searches of premises and lands at Rusheenamanagh, Carna, County Galway have been described as planned and structured. They are being carried out by local Gardai with the assistance of the Garda Technical Bureau.
