Gardai are searching for a man in his late 20's or early 30's in relation to an alleged sexual assault in Dublin.

Gardai are investigating a report a woman was sexually assaulted in the Ballsbridge area in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The injured party has described the man as having a short beard, glasses and short dark hair.

She says he was wearing a short sleeved shirt at the time.

Gardai say the woman was wearing a long black dress.

The investigation is focused on two separate time periods.

Gardai want to speak to anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the Shelbourne Road, Ballsbridge, Merrion Road & Serpentine Avenue area of Dublin 4 between 12:45am and 2:15am on Sunday morning.

They also have an interest in the movements of the woman in the long black dress in the Mountjoy area of Dublin 1 between 2:15am and 3:45am.

They are asking motorists with 'dashcam' footage in either of the two areas to come forward.
