Gardai are to mount a major road safety campaign this weekend to clamp down on speeding.
The National Slow Down day will take place over a 24 hour period, beginning at 7 o'clock on Friday morning.
So far this year, 152 people have been killed on the roads, the same figure for the same period last year.
