Gardai say a baby's body found in a recycling plant in Bray in Co Wicklow was a little girl and she may have been stillborn.

They're urging the child’s mother to come forward as they’re concerned about her health.

Staff at the Greenstar Recycling Plant in Fassaroe in Bray discovered the new born baby girl at around 11am this morning.

Gardai say she may have been stillborn although this hasn’t been fully established.

It appears the baby was carried to full term and her birth was quite recent.

Gardai are now urging the baby’s mother to come forward as they are very concerned about her health and well-being, Superintendent Pat Ward is from Bray Garda Station;

Greenstar handle waste from all over the country so gardai say this appeal is nationwide.

A post mortem will be carried out tomorrow along with a full search at the waste facility.

But gardai say their main concern for now is for the mum to come forward and speak to them.
