Renua leader Lucinda Creighton says gender quotas are a problem for 'old' parties who hold seats for generations.
She was responding to former Fine Gael strategist Frank Flannery - who told the MacGill Summer School in Co Donegal that it's becoming 'difficult' for young male candidates - who are being 'pushed aside' in favour of women.
Mr Flannery said he supports gender quotas as being 'absolutely the right thing to do' - but said young men in political life are now feeling a 'sense of grievance'.
