A man has appeared in court in Co Kerry charged with murdering a Georgian immigrant in Tralee almost 8 years ago.

Badri Khvedelidze was arrested at Dublin airport today following his detention in Spain on foot of a European arrest warrant.

The 32-year-old Georgian national was remanded in custody after appearing in court in Tralee this evening.

George Tkeshelashvili was stabbed to death on Mary Street in  Tralee on  October 15th  2005.

The 47-year-old father of one had moved to the town a few months earlier looking for work.
