The Department of Education's facing criticism for a major delay in assessing fire safety in a number of schools.

It was first alerted to problems in 5 rapid-build schools in Dublin, Wicklow and Westmeath in 2014 but the audits have only just been published.

Full inspections are now due to be carried out in 25 schools.
