The government is to invite public service unions for talks on "anomalies" in the Lansdowne Road pay agreement.
The talks - which will conclude before the end of January - will look at how to proceed given the improved deal given to Gardaí.
The public services committee of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions has welcomed the invite to talks.
But Minister Paschal Donohoe is sticking by his timetable that there won't be further pay talks on a successor deal until later next year:
