Government to change way it makes State board appointments

The Tánaiste says the Government will change the way appointments are made to State Boards in the wake of the row over the appointment of John McNulty to the board of IMMA.

Joan Burton says Brendan Howlin will bring a memo to Cabinet soon on the issue.

She made the comments after meeting the Taoiseach this morning to discuss the controversy over the nomination of John McNulty to contest the Seanad by-election for Fine Gael and his short-lived appointment to the board of the Irish Museum for Modern Art.
