The government's set to miss its own deadline for refunding water charges.

It had committed to introducing laws to bring forward a refund before the Dail rose for its summer break.

But it's confirmed today that the legislation won't be ready and will have to be delayed into the autumn.

It's estimated that refunding the total bills paid will cost 162 million euro - with some households due to receive up to 325 euro.
