The Tánaiste says the government has done everything it could to support the Web Summit - and says she hopes it can return.
But claims that the government has funded the summit to the tune of over €700,000 have been labelled as "misleading".
The dispute follows the release of emails by the Web Summit, showing how civil servants failed to respond to several requests for help in arranging the 2016 event.
Opposition parties say the government is guilty of complacency, and did not believe there was a possible risk of the event moving abroad until it was too late.
