The Government's being asked to give people more time to pay inheritance tax.

Fianna Fáil says the rate of the charge also needs to be reduced - the party wants to see it brought back to 2008 levels.

As the rules stand a house worth up to 225,000 euro is exempt from the fee.

However over that rate a charge of 33 applies if a child or parent is inherits the family home through a bereavement - spouses are exempt.
