The government is being accused of failing to listen to calls to lower the cost of childcare, as Irish parents pay double their European counterparts.
The Oireachtas Health Committee is looking at the cost of early childhood education - after a recent survey found parents need to earn 30 thousand euro a year to pay for two children.
Some workers in the area are forced to take extra jobs because the pay is so low.
