Opposition parties have demanded that the government scraps Irish Water after an adverse ruling by Eurostat.

The EU agency says Irish Water isn't receiving enough income from the public to be considered separate to the government - and that this would still be the case even if ALL bills were being paid.

The government says it won't abolish the utility, or abandon water charges - but Róisín Shortall of the Social Democrats says Irish Water clearly needs to be scrapped:
