The Greek Prime Minister says his country has been transformed into an 'austerity laboratory'.

Alexis Tsipras told the European Parliament Greece has faced the toughest measures in the region, even though other European countries have also faced some austerity.

His country has been given until Friday to come up with new proposals to reach a deal with international creditors.

And although last night's leaders meeting in Brussels apparently broke up after no new proposals came from Athens, Mr Tsipras says they did make submissions, which are now being worked on:

Meanwhile, tourists travelling from Ireland to Greece are being advised to take more than one means of payment with them.

Holidaymakers aren't affected by the ATM withdrawal limits in place, however the Department of Foreign Affairs is reminding people that banking services including credit card processing or ATM servicing could be limited at short notice.

Officials say people should have enough money to cover emergencies or delays while taking appropriate security precautions.
