The Greek parliament has voted overwhelmingly to back the government's new bailout plans.

251 of its 300 members supported the proposed economic reforms - which prime minister Alexis Tsipras hopes will end his country's debt crisis.

Mr Tsipras told MPs overnight there's now real optimism:

Eurozone finance ministers will discuss Greece's latest proposals later today, before they're put to a summit of EU leaders tomorrow.

The proposal, part of a bid for a new €53.5bn bailout Athens needs to avoid certain bankruptcy is very close to what Greek voters rejected in last Sunday's referendum.

Eurozone officials have briefed the media that they’re satisfied that the reforms on offer satisfy creditors' demands for a third bailout.

The package of measures includes austerity measures prime minister Tsipras had previously ruled out.
