Greece's prime minister is expected to stand down after a rebellion from those in his own party.

A government official says the country's expected to call a snap election for the 20th of September.

Alexis Tsipras effectively lost his parliamentary majority due to opposition to the country's latest bailout deal.

The news comes as Greece receives the first of its loans today after its third bailout was formally signed off last night.

Athens received the first 13 billion euro installment - from a total of 86 billion - which will be paid out over the next three years, provided it sticks to the terms and conditions.
