The Green Party's Ciaran Cuffe has won the first of four seats in the European Parliament for the Dublin constituency after 13 counts at the RDS.

He made it across the line following transfers from Fine Gael's Mark Durkan.

Former Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald will be elected at the next count with transfers from Labour's Alex White, who has been eliminated.

Independents4Change Clare Daly, Sinn Féin's Lynn Boylan and Fianna Fáil's Barry Andrews are vying for the last 2 seats.

Meanwhile, Fine Gael's Sean Kelly has topped the poll in Ireland South.

He got over 118 thousand first preference votes in the first count - around 1,400 less than he needed to be re-elected.

Fianna Fail's Billy Kelleher is in second, independent Mick Wallace in third - followed by Sinn Fein's Liadh Ni Riada and the Green Party's Grace O'Sullivan.
