A judge in the case the Green Party took against RTE has ruled that both sides must pay their own legal costs.

The Greens challenged a decision by the broadcaster not to include Eamon Ryan in their seven way Leaders' Debate, but failed to have him added on the day in question.

The debate between the leaders of Fine Gael, Fianna Fail, Labour, Sinn Fein, Renua and the Social Democrats took place last month.

This afternoon Judge Marie Baker found that the case raised important Constitutional issues on the role of the media in educating the public.
