A Garda Ombudsman investigation is underway after a man was shot in an incident involving an off-duty Garda last night.
It happened at around 2am this morning on Portobello Road in Dublin.
Locals reported hearing shouting and a noise that sounded like a gunshot.
It is believed the off-duty Garda approached a group of men and told them to put their hands above their heads.
This afternoon, GSOC confirmed that an "official Garda firearm was discharged" during the incident.
One man was injured, and is being treated for injuries that are not life threatening.
Kim Buckley is at the scene and spoke to some locals.
