Gunmen have opened fire at a baby's birthday party in California, killing one and injuring at least six others - including a child.

The incident occured at about 5pm at Peregrine Park in northern Sacramento. Local police say the attackers opened fire, then fled the scene in a car.

A man in his 20s was killed.

According to police, the incident appears to be gang-related.
