Internet giant Google is celebrating its 15th birthday today.
On September the 4th 1998 it was incorporated by founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who had met at university three years previously.
The search engine was originally called BackRub and based in a garage.
It now has more than 70 offices in more than 40 global locations, including Dublin.
Innovations subsequently launched by Google that have become part of everyday life include Google Maps, Google Streetview and Google Earth.
Around 2,500 people are employed by Google in Ireland.
