A 57 year old man who was injured in a serious assault in the Harold's Cross area of Dublin yesterday has died in hospital.

The man was rushed to St James Hospital after an incident outside Park View apartments in Harold's Cross early yesterday morning. He had suffered serious injuries, and lost his fight for life this morning. 

Gardai are questioning a man in his forties about the fatal assault, at Terenure Garda station.

Detectives investigating the assault have repeated their call for witnesses. 

They would like to speak to anyone who was in the area between Harold's Cross Bridge and Terenure between 3.30 am and 4 am yesterday.
